You can't possibly imagine that in a hobby filled with people who scrutinize ever last detail of an audio chain, that no one would pick up on strangely low file size, would you? Not to mention that file size =/= audio quality when dealing with compression. Whether it's a software malfunction, an incorrect setting, an incompatible device, etc. If you are not seeing the file sizes that we are, then something isn't right on your end. The result is that in theory, you can have an audio file that pre-decompression will have a relatively small file size (as we are seeing with 30-50MB) and after decompression would open up to become significantly larger, but does not actually utilize storage space as this only happens on the fly. Whether you believe in MQA and its sound quality merits, does not change the underlying concept of its technology, which is essentially a multi-level form of compression and decompression, through both a software and hardware encoder and decoder. That being said, this whole thing completely forgets the entire point of MQA (which is what Master is), which is high fidelity audio with compression suitable for streaming. ![]() This posts title is insane levels of clickbait and drawing conclusions based on anecdotal evidence without a shred of verification anywhere else.Īs you may have now noticed, several other users here, myself included, are seeing regularly 30-50MB files for master quality downloads.
